You might have heard that there is a meat shortage in the US. Thanks to the monopoly on meat processing centralizing most of this country’s meat production in one location, COVID-19 has caused a meat shortage for a lot of restaurants. Some restaurants have had to limit portions, while others are simply unable to provide certain dishes at all. You might be wondering how this affects us.
We’re Doing Just Fine
The meat shortage has affected us, but fortunately not as much as you might expect. Whereas the larger chain restaurants are required to buy their meats from specific companies to match with the national chain’s particular style, we are an independent restaurant. This means we don’t have any restrictions on where we can buy our meat from, or how it comes to us. As long as the seller follows proper health standards, we’re able to use it in our restaurant.
Multiple Sources Means No Meat Shortage For Us
We purchase a lot of our meat from local producers, as well as national suppliers. Even though some of our suppliers are suffering shortages and putting limits on how much they can sell to us, we’re able to buy from other sources to make up the difference. This has allowed us get around the meat shortage for the moment. As such, we currently have no plans to limit the portion sizes available to our customers. Since we buy from local suppliers, your purchases help support the local economy.
Be aware that while we haven’t been as affected by the meat shortage as some companies, that doesn’t mean we aren’t effected at all. The situation may change, forcing us to temporarily change our policy, but for the time being, you don’t need to worry. We’ll be sure to keep you posted if anything changes. We now have a new item on our menu: Hawaiian musubi basted in a special sugar sauce. You can order it for delivery, or drop by our drive-thru window and get a great taste of the Polynesian Islands!
