Wedding catering and entertainmentNorthern Utah Weddings Magazine

This week, we appeared in Northern Utah Weddings Magazine. You can buy a hard copy, or read the digital version online. This magazine is about showcasing weddings around northern Utah and providing helpful tips to making your special day turn out just right. In light of this, we want to share a few tips of our own. So, here are a few tips on how to get the best wedding catering in 2021.

1. Decide What You Want

We’d love to say “book us” and say that’s good enough, but even we admit not everybody wants to enjoy the delicious taste of authentic Polynesian food on their wedding day. Some people are just weird that way (ha ha!).

The first thing you want to do when setting up your wedding catering is to know what you want. You want your wedding day to be something special. It would be a joke to spend all this time on making your wedding perfect, only to just have everyone go to Burger King afterward. Your wedding food should be just as special as your special day, and it should be something that really fits with you. Decide ahead of time what you want your wedding food to be, then do your research.

For us, if you’re looking for something really special, but our standard menu doesn’t seem to be doing the case, it’s possible for us to provide special, unique dishes not normally on our menu. If you plan ahead and give us enough time to get the ingredients, there are many options available. Speaking of planning ahead . . .

2. Book Wedding Catering In Advance

The worst thing you can do with any part of the wedding is do it at the last minute. That includes catering. If you wait until the last minute to book catering, you might find your caterer of choice is already books. You don’t want to scramble to find a new caterer at the last minute and end up with someone who disappoints you.

As stated above, calling in advance also lets you get access to special deals the caterer might be able to do for you. We can do unique meals, or even roast a whole pig in a traditional Polynesian earth oven. Other caterers might also have unique things they can do to make your big day memorable, but these things take time to prepare. You can’t just get a whole pig to roast as an impulse buy! When you know what you want, start booking your catering right away to make sure you get the best service.

3. Establish A Budget

Weddings are expensive, no doubt about it, but sparing no expense is not the same thing as throwing away money foolishly. When planning your wedding catering, make sure you work out exactly what your budget is with the caterer. Caterers can spend as much as you want, but you can only spend as much as you have. Make sure you lay out your budget clearly so that your caterer can set up your meals in a way that satisfies you without breaking the bank. When you meet with your caterers, make sure you come prepared on this point to make the planning as smooth as possible.

4. Consider Health and Safety Guidelines

The outbreak has caused a lot of problems for the events industry and the restaurant industry. Catering has to deal with both problems! You want to have your big day, but you also want it to be healthy and safe. You can follow all the personal safety guidelines, but what good is that if your caterer isn’t also doing the same?

For us, we’ve managed this by setting a sort of buffet style of serving that minimizes the number of people touching the food and being in close proximity. We call small groups to get their food at a time, so the line never gets crowded. We keep people a safe distance from the food and have them select what they want by telling us. Then we serve it to them ourselves. This ensures that only our servers (who we test for the Covid virus before sending them to cater your wedding) and the people eating the food touch it. It minimizes the risk of infection.

Whoever you book to cater your wedding, make sure they have similar safety procedures. It would be terrible for your special day to end with people catching the virus.
